1. The YSA activity was started on 1st January, 2004 and inauguration activity was held at Jhansi, Raibareilly, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Jaunpur, Muradabad, Lucknow, Hamirpur, Basti, Bareilly, Deoria.

2. The launch programme of Year of Scientific Awareness-2004 was held 28th February, 2004 at the auditorium of CMS, Gomti Nagar. The programme was inaugurated by Mohd. Azam Khan, Hon’ble Minister, Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development, Government of U.P.

3. Vigyan Rail Exhibition – proposed by Vigyan Prasar, Govt. of India, was coordinated by CST,UP.          06.01.2004 to 24.01.2004 at Bareilly, Lucknow, Allahabad and Varanasi.

4. Meeting of R & D Institutions & Resource Persons - 05.04.2004 to undertake the activities of YSA-2004

5. The Geographical Model Competition – GEOFEST from 13th to 16th April, 2004 at City Montessori School, Lucknow under YSA-2004 activities. Around 57 teams participated in the senior group and 80 teams participated in the junior group. The event was participated by about 1000 participants from reputed schools from all over India as well as 4 teams from neighbouring SAARC countries.

6. Training workshop for Transit of Venus – A training workshop for resource persons was organized on 29th May, 2004 under which the training and guidance of viewing of Venus during the transit was organized Nearly 40 districts took part in the activity.

7. Viewing of Transit of Venus - On 8th June, 2004 viewing of Transit of Venus was organized at 35 places as following – Jhansi, Raibareilly, Lalitpur, Jaunpur, Moradabad, Lucknow (at three places – at CSTUP, Regional Science Centre, Aliganj and Bal Vidya Mandir, Charbagh), Hamirpur, Basti, Bareilly, Gonda, Deoria, Banaras, Bulandshahar, Unnao, Meerut, Mathura, Mainpuri, Rampur, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Lakhimpur Kheeri, Badayun, Saharanpur, Etawah, Shahjahanpur, Maharajganj, Ghaziabad, Siddarth Nagar, Sultanpur, Banda

8. National Technology Day (11 May, 2004) - Popular scientific lectures were delivered by Dr. B.D. Gupta, Ex-Vice Chancellor, Gorakhpur and Allahabad University, Dr. C.P. Dwivedi, Joint Director, Council of Science and Technology,U.P., Dr. A.N. Singh, Director, Remote Sensing Application Centre and Dr. P.K. Seth, (Ex-Director, ITRC) CEO, Biotech Park, Lucknow on the occasion. An interaction activity under scientific lecture was also organized to the students.

9. Coordinators meeting – The Coordinators meeting of District Organising Committees was held on 27th July, 2004 under which various programmes of YSA-2004 was discussed. Around 60 Coordinators of different districts participated in the meeting

10. Children Science Park - Inauguration of Children Science Park was held on 14th August, 2004 by City Montessory School, Rajaji Puram branch. The CST,UP coordinated under the activity.

11. Popular Scientific Lectures activity –The target audience of the programme were the common masses, teachers/students of different schools/colleges. The activity has been organized at 60 districts of the state.

12. Essay Competition - The competitions activity was carried out among school children at 60 districts. The participants has been provided certificates and prizes.

13. Drinking water and health programmes –16 colleges of Lucknow were covered under the programme with the help of Industrial Toxicology Research Centre during which popular scientific lectures, exhibitions, scientific films on the above subjects were held out on the following dates
